Qualification of Teachers

The main task of Peixian's foreign teachers is to help the students in oral English. Teachers having English as their mother tongue should not have any problems to qualify. Peixian will accept bilingual speaker as English teacher if he/she lives in an English speaking country no less than half of the time starting from the age of 7 or all the time from the age of 13 (Hong Kong is not considered as an English speaking city.) Person who lives in non-English speaking country but with parents who speak English only and no local language at home, is also acceptable.
The Chinese government will only accept people with a bachelor's degree as teachers in China and work permits can only be obtained for teachers with a bachelor's degree.
It is not required that the teachers to have any work experience or teaching experience. However, if a person has worked in a third world country even for a few weeks will adjust to life in China more easily and hence preferred.
Knowledge in the Chinese language is definitely NOT needed. Peixian prefers to have English teachers who speak no Chinese. Peixian may offer tutoring of Mandarin to foreign teachers if there is such a demand.  Most teachers in the past had managed to learn enough Chinese to get along in China somehow by themselves.
It is also helpful to the school and the students if a teacher can coach basketball, football or any kind of sports. Folk dancing and singing are also tools that one can use to close the gap between teachers and students.
Internet is available almost anywhere is China.  At the sites of all the Peixian schools, internet is definitely available.  Teachers may apply to become a teacher in computer usage after their arrival.
